Summary
We are DEDC LLC, a full-service, multi-disciplined engineering and design firm. We are seeking Senior Design Engineers, either Electrical or Mechanical, for our growing professional staff. We are looking for seasoned engineers who can translate technical requirements into practical, reliable designs and collaborate with colleagues and project stakeholders, as well as lead less experienced engineers. We are willing to consider engineers of any experience level.

These pivotal roles will have experience in field surveys, scope development, system selection, as well as the development of engineering drawings and specifications required for bidding and construction. They will focus on scope development, complete various engineering calculations and analyses, contribute to the final design process, and provide technical support during construction.

This position is based out of our Newark, DE location. The target salary range is $150,000 or more, commensurate with experience. We offer medical and dental benefits, retirement plans, paid time off and paid holidays, and professional development and tuition reimbursement.

About the role
Critical parts of the job
  • Develop electrical or mechanical designs, schematics, drawings, and technical documentation with a team for project bids and construction.
  • Work directly with clients to define, develop, and confirm project scopes of work, objectives, and technical requirements.
  • Perform and/or oversee field surveys, site investigations, and collection of field data.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and technical evaluations in support of project design.
  • Research, interpret, and apply applicable engineering codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed design requirements and select appropriate components and solutions for the project.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop construction drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, project teams, and suppliers on other aspects of the project.
  • Develop and review construction drawings, specifications, design packages, and other engineering documents.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including responding to contractor and client questions, reviewing submittals, and assisting with field issues.
  • Review engineering work and deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Communicate technical information effectively with clients, project managers, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing relationships with customers and seeking opportunities for future work within existing customer organizations.

Skills, Education & Abilities
Qualifications
  • A four-year engineering degree, with a minimum of 15 years of related experience and demonstrated ability to meet all of the above responsibilities.
  • Previous experience providing leadership, direction, and mentoring to a team of engineers in completing client design projects and engineering consulting.
  • Previous experience assisting with determining project fees and writing proposals to obtain client approval.
  • Proven ability to lead the design, documentation, and construction administration process.
  • Project experience with clients in sectors including Higher Ed, Pharmaceutical, Biopharma & Biotech, and other Science & Tech Industries, and previous experience in a consulting engineering firm is helpful.
  • Experience with Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Solid understanding of and the ability to research building and life safety codes.
  • Relentless attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Experience writing specifications and the ability to teach this skill to less experienced designers
  • Ability to use sound and independent judgment.
  • The ability to effectively communicate with clients, partners, vendors, and peers.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Project-related travel when needed.
